Searching for a fast-paced and action packed sport to improve fitness and challenge your skills? Then futsal is the sport for you!

What could be better than the chance to hang out with your mates on a weekly basis and work together in a team to move your way up the Futsal ladder!

Even if your team isn’t able to claim their way to victory, the great part about futsal is that everyone is able to gain the maximum physical and social benefits, no matter where you sit on the ladder!

Held on a small pitch of only 40m in length with just ten players on the field at any given moment, the sport guarantees every game will be packed with intensity and provides the perfect opportunity to stay fit this winter. Still not convinced? Below we have listed the top 5 benefits of signing yourself up to a social futsal comp!

More ball time

With only 5 people on the pitch from each team, players will have a higher percentage of ball touches, in comparison to soccer games which have up to 11 team members on the pitch at any given time. This ensures that a players time spent on the field will maximize their game play and contribute towards improved confidence and game skills in no time. Specifically, more time spent in control of the ball will work on advancing your decision making skills and reaction time.

Full body workout

Forget your weekly trip to the gym when you start playing futsal! This action packed league will keep you on your toes for the entirety of the season. Every game requires players to continually be on the move whether it’s running up and down the court, jogging to be available for your team mate or the intricate and strategic footwork involved. This range of movement  guarantees players a noticeable improvement in their cardiovascular fitness.

Played indoors as a smaller-scale alternative to soccer, this makes Futsal the perfect sport to pick up when the winter weather hits. With seasons offered for players year-round, Futsal is the perfect way to maintain your fitness levels and keep your training and skill development consistent throughout the year. An indoor environment also ensures no games are susceptible to being rained off or cancelled due to weather that is too hot or stormy – giving you no excuse to stop playing!

The rapid dynamic of the sport makes it a perfect way to develop your knowledge and expertise quickly! As most of us learn best by doing, futsal is great for expanding your skill set and can provide the perfect transition to move into outdoor soccer for the popular summer seasons. The fast-paced environment is also ideal for players who have never tried out the sport but are keen to give it a go, as it gives you the opportunity to maximize your play time and pick up the skills at a rapid speed as you progress through the season.

Playing a social futsal league is fun – simple as that. In addition to the opportunity to catch up with your mates regularly, the competition introduces players to new teams each week and provides the perfect atmosphere to have some friendly competitive banter throughout the season. Weekly games are also a great way to get out of the house and de-stress from work.
