With the novelty of the first month for 2022 coming to an end, how are your new years resolutions going?

Studies have shown that by mid-feb almost 80% of those who made new years resolution have either broken or slowed their efforts. Don't become a part of the statistic this year and keep your fitness goals on track and achievable by signing up to a social sport!

There are plenty of benefits to signing up to a team social sport including:

Fun

How many times have you been able to say your weekly workout was fun? When signing up to a social sport, every game is fun! As the weeks go by you will notice your team and your own skills gradually improving and you start to feel more confident in your own abilities. This improvement of skills combined with playing with your friends every week will add some fun variety to your regular exercise regime. 

New & exciting

Sometimes breaking out of your comfort zone and trying something new can be just what we need to break up our routine and gain back our love for fitness. In addition to getting fit, weekly games give you the opportunity to switch up your day-to-day routine and learn a new skill in the process. 

Social

As we get older and the calendar starts to fill up with work, study, house chores or family time, seeing your friends on a regular basis can sometimes be pushed to the bottom of the priority list. Registering for a social comp with a group of friends is a great way to stay in touch and it gives you an excuse to catch up on a weekly basis. These competitions are also a great way to meet new people, whether you are signing up to a completely new team by yourself, filling in for another team or simply just mingling with the opposing players on the court. 

Improve your fitness

Team sports are great for physical fitness. Each week you will have your team mates there to motivate and support you to perform your best on the court. With the motivation from your team and the pressure from yourself to want to give it your all and secure the win you will find yourself getting in a rigorous workout without even feeling like you are trying. 

De-stress

Sometimes it can be hard to switch off the stresses of life at the end of the day. A social sport is a great way to get away from your phone, emails and social media and turn all of your attention to working together with your team. For a few hours a week you get to forget about the never ending list of things to get done and just focus on having a good time with friends while developing a new skill. After getting in a good workout you will also leave your game feeling on top of the world, no matter how your team performs.
