Update on 50m pool: 27 November 2020

Posted: 27 November 2020

Update: 27 November

Great news, we will be commencing to fill the 50m pool on Monday 30 November. We remain on track to reopen the pool by mid-December.

We greatly appreciate your continued patience and look forward to sharing further updates with you as the works progress.

Update: 23 November

Thank you for your ongoing patience as we continue efforts to reopen the 50m pool.

The installation of additional bracing is expected to be completed this week and the works are going well.

We are on track to be filling the pool in the next two weeks and to reopen the pool by mid-December and at this stage the timeline of works is on track for this to happen.

We greatly appreciate your continued patience and look forward to sharing further updates with you as the works progress.

Update: 3 November

Thank you for your ongoing patience as we continue efforts to reopen the 50m pool.

The installation of additional bracing has commenced and the works are going well.

We are still aiming to reopen the pool in mid-December and at this stage the timeline of works is on track for this to happen.

We greatly appreciate your continued patience and look forward to sharing further updates with you as the works progress.

Update: 22 October 2020

We are pleased to provide you with an update on the reopening of the 50m pool.

We are continuing works to replace and reinforce the bracing beams of the pool. The most recent advice from our structural engineers is that further works are required to ensure the integrity and safety of the pool structure.

We will soon be commencing these additional works and once completed we will be able to refill the pool, pending engineer sign off.

We expect to reopen the pool in time for the school holidays, around mid-December. This is an estimate only as we cannot commit to a set reopening date just yet but will update you as the works progress.

We are deeply disappointed that we have not yet been able to open the pool to you. We appreciate that as the weather warms up the closure of the pool will cause increasing frustration for our lap and recreational swimmers.

Please be assured that our team is doing all we can, in conjunction with our structural engineers, to get the pool operational.

Thank you for your patience.

Updated: 2 October 2020

This page provides information on the current status of the 50m pool and will be updated as required.

We are currently undertaking remediation works to the 50m pool which require specific and thorough checks and certification.

This process must be carried out before filling the pool.

Unfortunately at this stage we do not expect the pool to be opened this month.

The safety of our patrons is our highest priority and to ensure we meet the highest safety standards we will require full certification following each stage.

Thank you for your understanding.
